With billion dollar box office and streaming hits hits like Avengers, The Batman, X-Men, Wonder Woman, Moon Knight, Invincible, Umbrella Academy, Locke & Key, The Boys and others, the world of comics has hit the big time! What do all of those properties have in common? They all started as a visual story in a comic book. Memphis Comic Expo (MCX) shines a spotlight on the artists and writers who create the inspiration and stories made popular by the cinematic universe!
2023 will mark the 8th year for MCX, a Memphis owned and operated, comic-creator focused convention with the largest creator guest list of any show within 500 miles!
Attendance has risen steadily from 1,800 to over 4,500 in a few short years with continual growth expected. MCX is a family-friendly environment with diverse demographics. Currently, our content reaches over 18,000 followers across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. We reached over 200,000 people on Facebook and Instagram with our ad campaign in 2022. Our website had 55,000 visitors last year with over 7000 views per day near the show date. In 2022, MCX had attendees from more than 25 states as far away as Washington, California, and New York.
2023 MCX will feature over 175 local and regional exhibitors, creators and vendors that cater to a wide spectrum of interests such as comic books, toys, games, movies, wrestling, television, amine, manga, cosplay, original artwork, handmade items, apparel and much more. In addition, a roster of comic industry professionals and voice actors are in attendance for meet and greet. With an enhanced costume contest, Q&A panels with some of the biggest names in comics, educational panels, encounters with professional cosplayers, local costuming groups, and movie prop replicas, there is something for everyone!
In past years, MCX Drink & Draw and auction events have raised over $10,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
